Farm Birds

Farm birds are commonly kept as pets by people who enjoy their company and the benefits they offer, like fresh eggs or pest control. Common pet farm birds include chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, quails, and pheasants. These birds come in different breeds, each with unique traits. Chickens, such as the Rhode Island Red and Silkie, are known for laying eggs and being friendly. Ducks, like the Pekin and Indian Runner, enjoy water and are great for controlling insects. Geese, such as the Embden and Toulouse, are larger birds that can act as protectors for other animals. Turkeys, like the Bourbon Red, are social and can bond with their owners. Quails and pheasants, including Coturnix and Golden Pheasant, are smaller birds often kept for their beautiful appearance or for egg production. Each farm bird has different needs, so it’s important to learn about their care and behaviour before choosing one as a pet.
